Introduction:

As the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) assists United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need. UMCOR Global Migration sub-unit seeks to alleviate suffering of refugees and migrants globally through grants-making and representational work and advocacy.

Job Summary

UMCOR’s US Disaster Response unit is seeking a Manager, USDR Training Program with a desire to be part of a mission-driven organization to strengthen the programs overall approach to effective training and capacity building of UMCOR partners.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs advanced needs analysis to determine training content effectiveness and compliance with brand standards and training support materials; maintains curriculum to comply with standard.
  • Develops and maintains a training management system to monitor reporting tools, program success, and training calendar.
  • Manages procurement of training supplies, inventory and materials within operational standards and procedures.
  • Collects, compiles, aggregates and analyzes training-related information; generates and evaluates reports, making recommendations for program improvement..

  • Manages information regarding UMCOR’s Early Response Team Programs (ERT) including oversight of the ERT badge-making volunteers and related processes.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Associates degree with at least 4 years relevant work experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 4 - 6 years’ experience in training environment with curriculum design.
  • Experience managing events and projects.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of disaster relief work of UMCOR, and UMC structure a plus.
  • Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with leadership.
  • Experience working with learning/training management system, and able to execute in a fast paced, high demand environment while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic, self-starter, able to be effective under pressure and be flexible.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to understand and respect cultural, religious and political environments and to use diplomacy when working with staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a faith-based context.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is highly experienced in training development program design and skilled at working with business stakeholders, peers and internal/external partners to achieve business results through training solutions. This person is accountable for being a thought partner in bringing innovation to the table to address the training needs and desired outcomes of the program. This individual collaborates with a team consisting of the Program Director and other program/training partners.
