The Freshwater Programme supports the aims and objectives of WWF-Myanmar by implementing a series of projects and activities to safeguard the intact water resources. The Ayeyarwady River is the engine of the Myanmar economy, and the basin provides the majority of economic value to the country. Yet, the industrial activities in the basin generate various water-related risks that could cause jeopardising impacts on the health of the river and of the communities that rely on it.
Objectives of the consultancy
The objectives of this consultancy assignment are i) to identify the chemical contamination of water sources and waste water discharged by the selected SMEs to provide a better understanding on the water pollution caused by the industries and ii) to explore potential treatment methods including the application of nature-based solutions that can be adopted by the industries with minimum implementation cost over a long period of time.

Requirements
- Extensive knowledge and experience in conducting and analysing of water resources and water analysis
- Good knowledge and experience in water resource-related standards and assessments for different purposes;
- Well experience in research knowledge and;
- Good knowledge on water treatment methods.
