Overview

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organisations, is looking to hire an exceptional Content Coordinator for the WWF Tigers Alive Initiative (TAI). This initiative is working to double global tiger numbers by 2022 - one of the most ambitious conservation goals ever set for the protection of a single species.

The Content Coordinator will be a gifted storyteller, with outstanding copywriting skills and at producing content for multiple formats - from social media videos through to technical reports. This is a fast paced role, working within a globally dispersed team, and directly reporting to the TAI Communications Director based in Hong Kong. There’s a strong preference for the role to be based in Asia, in a tiger range country.

Responsibilities

The Content Coordinator works with the Communications Director to 1) drive advocacy goals 2) support fundraising goals within the WWF network and 3) build mass market support for tiger conservation. Specific responsibilities include to:

  • Manage and grow engagement on WWF Tiger’s digital platforms (website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Medium), and other affiliated sites. This includes editorial planning, creating content, active community management, and using data and monitoring to optimise communications with target audiences.

  • Support the Tigers Alive team to create technical communications products: professional design and layout of reports and documents, data visualisations/infographics, multimedia products and website content. May be required to commission and manage relationships with external vendors and agencies as required.

  • Drafting a variety of news and marketing content, such as punchy and succinct blogs, as well as op-eds, commentary and thought pieces, under guidance of the Communications Director.

  • Liaise with WWF offices around the world, including WWF International and the Tigers Alive core team, to keep the editorial calendar up to date, and suggest communications opportunities.

  • Manage daily media and social media monitoring to help flag risks or opportunities and propose appropriate responses to the Communications Director.

  • Promote WWF tiger content to offices across the network through internal communications channels, ensuring content is adding value and supporting strategic goals.

  • Keep abreast of the latest design, digital and social media trends, and ensure WWF is integrating these into our communications

Required qualifications:

  • At least 2 relevant experience in the digital, marketing, media or communications profession. A relevant degree is welcomed but not required.
  • You must have a genuine and demonstrated interest in conservation, coupled with a global outlook and interest in current affairs.
  • Must have native-level English abilities. Additional languages an advantage.

Experience managing content development and publishing:

  • Outstanding writing skills and an ability to spot and pitch an interesting story angle.
  • In depth knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and other social media platforms, as well as best practices, and a passion for discovering and applying new digital trends.
  • Good understanding of social media KPIs, and applying data and analytics tools to improve content performance (experience with Meltwater an advantage)
  • Must be very competent using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and video-editing software and elements of graphic design (successful applicants will be required to present examples or a portfolio of work).
  • Experience using content management systems for websites.

The candidate should be:

  • Be a team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary (ie: content development, creation and editing).
  • Have great organisational and time management skills, and have an eagle’s eye for detail.
